SE5A Viper Engine Biplane Propellor And Picture

This item has been purchased.

Description

A fantastic propellor from a SE5A Viper engine fighter aircraft with various engine markings. This lot also includes a watercolour of a SE5 dogfight during the Great War.

Our example displays Air Inspection Department (AID) markings and the batch number G607 which can be dated to very late 1917, the propellor being number 40 out of a batch of 100. In addition, the propellor has been designed from drawing number DGAB7676RH and measures 2414 in metric with a pitch of 1710.

RFC propellors are seldom encountered, especially in used condition from one of the workhorses of WW1. Typical of used examples, the blades are off-center with painted canvas ends and eight bolt holes unlike modern examples.
