Description

A lovely 18th/19th-century munitions-grade, open-hilt tulwar, originating from North India with armoury proof marks. It also boasts period imitation quality stamps. Historically, Tulwar blades were commonly purchased in bulk and imported from Europe to India due to the superior quality of European metallurgy. In the 18th/19th century, munition standard blades were increasingly manufactured domestically, with imitation stamps applied locally to convince buyers of the blades quality.
