Description

A incredibly rare medical staff officers 1856 pattern tunic with the correct black leather medical staff sword belt and 1845 pattern officers sword and scabbard. This grouping is unnamed and has been assembled over several years. Dating between 1856-1860, the assemble depicts a 2nd Class Staff [Major] in the Medical Staff Corps during the Post Crimean/Indian Mutiny period. The belt as per period regulations is black leather with an extremely rare medical staff clasp. The sword being a 1845 pattern officers sword with hinged flap as correct for the time period. Post 1860, the corps was renamed Army Hospital Corps, a title which continued until the 1870/80's. A detailed analysis of the tunic and 18 possible recipients comes included with the assemble. [Levee trousers are not included.]
