Item:
A very rare and beautiful 1796 pattern officers ivory handled yeomanry sword with original leather scabbard. Due to the lion's head, we believe this sword dates post 1803 and pre 1808. Probably yeomanry due to the lack of conformity with standard army regulation.

Provenance:
Henry Osborn was a gun & sword maker with a factory in Birmingham (Bordesly St.Mills) and retail shop at 82 Pall Mall. Osborn was appointed Sword Cutler to the King in 1802 and by 1808, John Gunby became partners with Osborn.

Note:
Less than 10% of the item is made from ivory and is thus is certified as exempt, under the Ivory Act 2018. Cannot be posted outside of the United Kingdom.
